The lawn care industry is cyclical. It’s busy in the Summer time and slow in the Winter. What are you to do when you find your lawn care business slowing down in the Fall and Winter and you have a lot of time on your hands? You should be looking for additional services you can offer.
One lawn care business owner I recently spoke with told me about how offering snow plowing in the Winter months really helped his business push forwards and grow. He said it opened a lot of doors for Spring lawn care work as well.
Another service he recently started to offer was janitorial services. Every commercial facility has toilets he told me and that means they need someone to keep them and the bathrooms clean. Most of these commercial facilities he recently started performing janitorial services for also have grounds that need to be maintained. Guess what, he can offer that service. They have parking lots, he can snow plow them too.
By opening his eyes, he realized that he didn’t have to simply focus on lawn care. When he offered property and grounds management, his customer base grew. His profits grew and so did his business. Keep these things in mind if you find your lawn care business slowing down at the end of the year.
You can be as busy as you want to be. Conversely, you can be as slow as you want to be as well. So make a decision and follow the path you want to take. Just don’t give up!
