I have two new 2.3 gallon wall aquariums with sponge filters and heaters. I will have live java fern, java moss and eco-substrate. I want the tank to remain crystal clear. Other than weekly partial water changes I want to include natural detritus and algae eaters. Since there isn’t much space I am considering an olive nerite snail per tank. Is one nerite snail sufficient enough to clean the glass and detritus? Or should I add a snail and a ghost shrimp (a cherry shrimp is too colorful and I fear the betta will make a meal of it). I even considered 1 or 2 freshwater claims but I’m not sure they’ll take care of the aquarium glass.
Note: There is 1 small male betta per 2.3g tank.

I grew up in a house with tile and wood floors, and me and my husbands first apartment was all linoleum floors. Our second apartment is carpeted floors. We’ve lived here nearly 2 years, and it never crossed our minds to actually clean the carpets. The carpeting was always gross, so we threw tons of rugs down. Only thing we’ve ever done is vacuum, and we don’t walk barefoot in the house or sit on the carpet (too gross). My coworker let us borrow his carpet cleaner this weekend, so we could clean the floor. It is the nastiest thing I have habpnds down ever seen come off a floor. I regularly clean the tiled kitchen and bathroom with a scrub brush and bucket of water (like I have always cleaned hard flooring with) so they are always nice, and not much dirt accumulates since I clean them once a week). The carpet on the other hand, I’m just at a loss for words. My husband has gone over the same square of the living room 3 times (on his 4th time), and the water is still coming out black (it’s getting a little clearer every time he empties it). Once we get it clean, what can we do so it doesn’t get this nasty again? I am so disgusted. Obviously, no more shoes in the house, but what other measures can be taken? We don’t have room for a carpet steamer, so we can’t clean it once a month or anything. I do vacuum the living room a few times a week, since we have a parrot and he makes a mess with his seeds, and the bedroom once a week. Suggestions?

We just moved into our new house about a month ago and I have a question about wood flooring (not real wood- we have Pergo)… It is in almost every room of our house. It is in the living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and hallways. The only rooms that don’t have the Pergo are the two children’s rooms and the bathrooms. I feel like I can always see little pieces of debris- dog hair, dust, etc- on our floor. It drives me crazy! I sweep every day and mop once a week (if not twice a week) and there is still little tiny things all over our floor. I am wondering if there is a product or some other way to keep our floor looking cleaner.
Thinking that rugs might help, I have rugs in the living room, and at each doorway. I am looking to get a rug in our master bedroom and in the kitchen as soon as I can find some that I like.
IDK if it will make a difference or not, but I have a Shark Vac-N-Steam that I use to sweep and mop once a week, the rest of the time I sweep I use a normal broom. Sometimes to mop I use Pinesol and water.
Thank you for any suggestions!
I like Swiffer, but I don’t care to use them because I have heard the solution used with them is toxic to dogs… I’m not sure about the validity of this, but I’ve heard it several times.

Here’s the problem: i have a hardwood parque kitchen floor. i have no garage and the main entrance to my home is through the kitchen. i have 2 dogs, a husband, a 10 yr. old, and a 10 month old. with the baby crawling- the poor thing is constantly dirty from my funky floor. i vacuum and mop and it is still always dirty. i currently have a long, rectangular area rug in front of the door to try to catch some of the dirt but i know from past experience with area rugs that it really won’t do the trick. any thoughts on a more permanent and effective solution (other than getting rid of the dogs:) )
